Blackball is north east of Greymouth on the West Coast of the South Island. The installation was the outcome of working with members of the Blackball Museum of Working Class History. The museum is open daily and features exhibitions celebrating the long history of coal mining in the region. As recently as 2010, 29 miners died in a mining accident at the Pike River mine just up the road.
