Griff Maclaurin traveled from New Zealand in the 8th November 1936 to join a 3000 strong column of the International Brigade. The majority of the New Zealander’s who fought in Spain did so because of political commitment. Most were strongly anti-fascist and a number were communists. Griff died on his second day of action.
